Wilson Security had the security contract for GP 2005, and needed to supply 940 security and event personnel, to provide round the clock security at the GP.
Wilson personnel manned entry and exit gates, car parks, access waypoints, corporate facilities and grandstands, as well as maintained a constant presence across the massive GP site.
A core Australian Grand Prix Corporation requirement in awarding the contract to Wilson Security was that Wilsons provide a compliance monitoring service, to provide assurance that key performance targets for Presentation, Knowledge, Customer Service and a range of other criteria were being achieved on a constant basis.
Wilsons needed to train 15 compliance auditors, and arm them with the most up to date technology available, so they could carry out more than 2000 audits at over 900 locations, throughout the 4 days of the event.
At previous events, Wilsons had used a manual, paper based audit system to monitor performance, but for this event the requirements had expanded and, in addition, Wilson were supplying both Event and Security personnel to the GP.
It became clear the monitoring requirement was becoming almost impossible and a solution needed to be found.

SOLUTION
Enter Melbourne based Compliance Experts and its flagship product, Compliance Checkpoint.
Compliance Experts is a compliance specialist with a unique blend – the company both provides compliance audit and inspection services to a wide range of clients, as well as develops state of the art compliance software tools.
The Compliance Checkpoint product is a web based audit management program, with mobile auditing components, which provide the tools for auditors to carry out their work anywhere in the world, often in extremely remote locations.
With 15 auditors carrying out more than 2000 audits at over 900 locations, Checkpoint was configured to summarise and report on more than 70,000 ‘all-points’ observations made anywhere on the multi-hectare site during the 4 day event.
Compliance Checkpoint, the software providing this capability, is built on Microsoft’s ASP.NET technology and uses SQL Server 2000 for data storage.
The audits were conducted in the field using multi-platform tablet devices and the Compliance Checkpoint App software.
Each day, the required audits were downloaded to a tablet used by each auditor using a web service, prior to leaving the command centre. Audits were then carried out at various locations during the day and night, and the results were uploaded to the main server at the end of each shift.
The results of each audit were monitored by the Audit Supervisor, and summarised reports were made available to management. These summary reports provided data on scored results, broken down into key performance elements, the number and locations of all audits carried out each day, and even details of emerging problems.
Compliance Checkpoint software was also utilized in the Command Centre, to monitor all security incidents. All incidents were reported direct to the Command Centre, where they were logged and tracked until resolved.
Once again, each day reports could be provided to GP management on the number, location and status of all incidents.
“The application refreshed automatically every 60 seconds with the latest information that had been fed through from all the audits” says Paul Molenaar, Director of Compliance Experts.
BENEFITS
Cost-effective Incident Management Solution
The decision to use Compliance Experts technology made good economic sense. Officers in the field could use a standard internet browser to access live data and update it. The integration between the ASP.NET framework, Microsoft server software and Compliance Checkpoint itself meant that the whole thing could be bundled tightly together at little expense.”
Improved Statistics and Live Incident Data
With the help of Compliance Checkpoint, Wilson Security achieved a significant improvement in the logging and centralized management of incidents at the GP 2005. This in turn reduced costs and increased operational effectiveness and security.
